Central Illinois Credit Union to Open Location on Prairie View Road
You may have wondered what is being constructed at the top of the hill on Prairie View Road, visible from Route 150. Here's the answer: a branch of Central Illinois Credit Union, set to open in early 2027.

The bank sits at the corner of Prairie View Road and South Mahomet Road, the newest establishment in continued development of southeast Mahomet and the commercial Patton District.
Chelsea Anderson, President and CEO of CICU, said that Mahomet's "values and close-knit atmosphere align with our focus on personal service and lasting relationships. We are not-for-profit and member-owned, focusing on individuals receiving the best rates and low or no fees."

When planning began, she said, Mahomet did not yet have a credit union.* Many existing CICU members already live in town, making it a natural fit for expansion.
"I’m especially looking forward to welcoming new members, supporting local businesses and schools, and participating in community activities," Anderson said. "We want to create a place where people feel comfortable asking questions and finding guidance as they work toward their financial goals."
The branch will offer a full range of services for everyday banking and lending, along with financial education and assistance programs to help members build knowledge and confidence in managing their money, she shared.
*A credit union is not-for-profit and is owned by shareholders, while banks are for-profit, owned by by outside shareholders and investors.
