This week in Mahomet, there are opportunities to make your voice heard – through our local civic processes, as well as through creative writing workshops. You can unwind with a yoga class or a glass of wine with friends, and practice various arts and crafts at all ages. As usual, there is something on the Community Calendar for everyone this week!

  • On Monday, September 21, a Regular School Board Meeting will take place in the Conference Room at Middletown Prairie Elementary (6:30 p.m., 1301 Bulldog Drive). Given ongoing contract negotiations with district teachers and staff, details may change, but residents should remember that the public is welcome at regular meetings, which can also be streamed on Bulldog TV. Free

  • A Village Board of Trustees Meeting will then take place on Tuesday, September 22 at the Main Administration Building (6 p.m., 503 E. Main Street). The Board will vote on two grant applications (discussed here) and approve various reports. The full agenda can be found here. Free

  • Do you have a story to tell? Consider registering for the Truth & Beauty Writing Workshop on Tuesday, September 22 at Mahomet Public Library (6:30 p.m., 1702 E. Oak Street). Rachel DeWoskin, an award-winning author, will guide attendees in a workshop based on exploring truth through asking questions. This event is for adults and high school students; registration is required. Free

  • Need to unwind? On Wednesday, September 23 at Whisk, there are two opportunities to enjoy a glass of wine: the weekly Wine Down Wednesdays event offers a glass of wine for $5, or a $10 wine and charcuterie pairing (4-6 p.m.), followed by the Quarterly Wine Tasting, free for wine club members and open to walk-ins (6 p.m., 1704 Patton Drive Suite 4).

  • Cheer on the Bulldogs this Thursday, September 24 when Boys Varsity Soccer takes on Taylorville High School (6 p.m., MSHS Soccer Field). Check out other athletic games here! Free

  • Teens who love crafting can head to the Mahomet Public Library on Friday, September 25 for Teen After-Hours Craft Night: Book Bedazzling (5:30 p.m., 1702 E. Oak Street). All supplies will be provided, plus pizza! Register here. Free

  • Try your hand at floral arranging this Saturday, September 26 at the Dahlia Bouquet Workshop hosted by Main Street Botanicals (6 p.m., 410 E. Main Street). This workshop is beginner friendly for ages 10 and up. (More info) $40

  • Reset for the week ahead on Sunday, September 27 with an hour of Recovery Yoga at No Limit Fitness (4 p.m., 2107 Tin Cup Road). Bring your own mat and towel. Free
