Village Surveys The Village is currently conducting several surveys for resident feedback on upcoming projects.
A Comprehensive Plan for Mahomet will address growth over the next 20 years.
Residents are invited to contribute their feedback via this survey, which closes September 20
Two potential Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program Grants could possibly fund two projects in Mahomet, one focused on the East Bridge (the iron pedestrian bridge entering town at East Street) and another focused on new multi-use paths along Rt. 150, Prairieview Road, Patton Drive and South Mahomet Road.
Surveys about usage are open to residents for the East Bridge project and East Mahomet Multi-Use Paths project until September 9
An information session about these projects will take place on September 2 from at the Mahomet Public Library from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

July Updates The Board of Trustees meeting that took place on July 28 included votes on several interesting changes for the Village.
Two related ordinances were passed, one amending the Village liquor code and one amending the Village video gaming code. Together, these ordinances allow gas stations in Mahomet to obtain pour and gaming licenses (i.e., to serve alcohol onsite and provide gaming entertainment). Previously, only gas stations considered truck stops had these allowances under state law. An ordinance was approved restricting the use of skateboards, bicycles, scooters, etc. on sidewalks along certain blocks of Main Street. More information was reported here. Discussion here, page 6
A resolution was passed authorizing a service agreement with a5 Branding & Digital to develop a branding strategy for the Village (not to exceed $35,000). (Study session discussion and documentation here, page 10 and 29-33)
Other issues voted upon include restriction of excessive brake noise in town, improvements to water mains, changes to zoning regarding single-family home lot sizes, purchase of financial software for Village employees, purchase of a vacuum excavator truck, and replacement of a culvert (a tunnel that channels water underneath a road). The Treasurer’s Report referenced a letter sent to residents with their August water bill. As the letter states, the billing cycle for water/wastewater usage will change to prior-month usage (versus usage from two months prior).
This format is considered the norm for utility billing
Should give residents more ease recalling their water usage as they interpret their bill
Rather than charging residents for two full months of usage in a single bill to reset the billing cycle, the Village will spread the “extra” charges across four months
In January 2027, the change will be complete; residents will then pay for December 2026 usage
