Temperatures will hit the nineties this week, but the Community Calendar is beginning to hint at Fall’s arrival. This week in Mahomet, Bulldog athletic teams are in full swing, children’s programming returns at the library, and autumnal event themes begin to make an appearance.


Go Bulldogs!

The Community Calendar will always include Varsity Bulldog home games! This week, check out:

  • Girls Flag Football (Monday at 4 p.m. and Thursday at 6 p.m., Dutton Field)

  • Girls Tennis (Monday at 4 p.m., Middletown Tennis Courts)

  • Girls Golf (Tuesday at 4 p.m., Lake of the Woods)

  • Girls Volleyball (Tuesday at 7 p.m., M-S High School)


Playgroups & Story Times Return

Recurring events like playgroups and story times are back!

  • The “Come Play with Me Toddler Playgroup” at Mahomet United Methodist Church meets on Tuesdays from 9:30-10:30 a.m. (1302 E. South Mahomet Road). More info

  • Story Times at Mahomet Public Library take place on Tuesdays (9:30 a.m. for babies up to 18 months old, 10:15 a.m. for toddlers 18 months-3 years old) and Wednesdays (10 a.m. 3-5 years old).

  • Check out other library programs, like the Teen Craft Café (first Thursdays) and Preschool Playdate (Friday mornings), here.


Village Government Meetings

  • On Tuesday, September 1, the Planning & Zoning Commission will have its regular meeting at 6 p.m. (503 E. Main Street). There will be a public hearing followed by board discussion of three rezoning resolutions: one concerning commercial property at 427 Main Street, and two concerning the sand and gravel mine near County Road 2000N and County Road 150E, to be potentially rezoned from “conservation” to “single-family residential.” Full agenda can be found here.

  • On Wednesday, September 2, a Public Information Meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. (Mahomet Public Library, 1702 E. Oak Street). The Village will share information about two Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program grant applications in process.


Autumnal Vibes

Pumpkin spice is in the air... at least at The Hive Beetique (1828 Patton Drive). Check out the Golden Harvest Artisan Candle Workshop (Saturday, September 5 at 1 p.m.) or Fall Spice Honey & Goat Milk Soap Making Workshop (Sunday, September 6 at 1 p.m.). More info
