The Village Voice is an Everything Mahomet series where we share updates from the Village government, as well as follow and review decisions made at Board of Trustees meetings each month. Have questions or suggestions? Email us at everythingmahomet@mahometpubliclibrary.org.

September Updates

The Board of Trustees meeting that took place on September 22 included the following business:

  • The Annual Treasurer’s report for the Fiscal Year ending April 30, 2026 was approved. The report can be found here, pages 105-222.

  • Two grant applications were approved by the board for submission to the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program. (You can read about those grants here.) Because the grant application states that the award will cover 80% of a project, the Village must be prepared to pay 20% of each project. The Historic East Bridge project would cost the Village about $270,000 while the Path Connectivity Project (extending sidewalks from the Library to Prairie View Road) would cost the Village about $300,000. (Discussion here, page 5.)

  • The full meeting minutes can be found here, pages 4-6.

Also of interest:

If you missed the Data Center Wrap-up Discussion on October 20, you may be curious to read the minutes from that meeting here, on pages 9-13. We also shared an interview with Jason Tompkins, reflecting on the data center development process.

Upcoming Village Government meetings are:

  • November 10, Board of Trustees Study Session, 6 p.m.

  • November 17, Board of Trustees Study Session, 6 p.m.

  • November 24, Board of Trustees Meeting, 6 p.m.

Note that we include government meeting agends in our weekly newsletter, The Mahomet Minute, which is sent out on Sunday evenings. Stay up to date with Village business, as well as highlighted events around town and feature stories from Everything Mahomet.
