Run Mahomet, a local 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon, will take place on Saturday, August 1 (with an option for runners to participate “virtually” in the week before the race). The annual race, in its 31st year, is organized by and benefits the Mahomet Area Youth Club (MAYC), a Mahomet-based non-profit organization that supports local children ages 6-18 and their families.

Quick facts:
On Friday night at 7 p.m., there is a 1-mile race on Main Street; people are welcome to walk, sprint and any pace in between. There is a finish line, with food trucks and mingling after the race.
The Saturday races begin at 7 a.m. at Mahomet-Seymour High School (302 W. State Street), which is also where the race concludes (in the stadium).
The races take place on village streets and county roads. Check out the race maps here.
Last year there were about 500 runners, with the race growing each year.
On Saturday morning, there will be food trucks for breakfast and coffee, plus finish line treats.
This community-oriented event aims for fun with music and festivity for participants and spectators.

Run Mahomet is entirely facilitated by volunteers, with community support from the police and fire departments. MAYC still needs volunteers to help prepare for and execute the run. People can help by serving at hydration stations, assisting with setup and teardown, blocking traffic, and driving behind runners as pacers. Email director@mahometyouth.org if you are interested in helping.
100% of the proceeds from Run Mahomet go to MAYC, for which this is one of only two main fundraisers for the year. Extra donations can be made on top of runner registration fees. Runners can register online for the Main Street Mile ($15), 5K ($45), 10k ($55) and Half Marathon ($75), as well as discounted virtual options.
