Mahomet Parks & Recreation is hosting an exciting new event this Memorial Day (Monday, May 25). The first annual “Splash Into Summer” will take place from 11 am – 1 pm at Barber Park. We caught up with MPR to learn everything you need to know before you go!

Where is this event located?  The event is at Barber Park (703 MacDougal Road), with activities taking place primarily at the Bill & Lisa Peithmann Splash Pad.

Will food be served at the event?  Yes! Food will be available to purchase from Watson’s Chicken, Ice Daddy’s and Keke’s Mobile food trucks. There are picnic tables at the pavillion for seated eating.

What else can I do at the event?  The main attraction of “Splash Into Summer” is the splash pad, which is officially open for summer on Memorial Day. (Splash Pad hours are 11 am – 6 pm every day until Labor Day.) We will have an inflatable water slide in addition to the normal splash pad equipment. An emcee will be running the event and playing fun music. The Barber Park playground will be open as usual, too!

Who is this event most appropriate for?  Whether your kids are toddlers or pre-teens, this event is the perfect way to kick off the summer. We welcome everyone for some outdoor fun!

Where can I park?  Barber Park has a large surface lot with ample parking for this event – let's see if we can fill it up!

What else do I need to know?

  • Our bathrooms are now open and will be available for use at the event

  • We recommend that kids come ready to splash, dressed in their swimsuits and wearing sunscreen

  • Please note, swim pants or diapers are necessary for anyone in diapers

  • Shoes are optional at the splash pad, which has a concrete floor

  • Please do not bring toys to the splash pad

  • The splash pad has zones with different sized spouts for age-appropriate play

Our fingers are crossed for good weather – grey skies or blue, come help make our First Annual Splash Into Summer a success!
