With the extreme heat behind us, consider getting back outside this week – or stick to the comfort of an air-conditioned meeting or program!

Beyond the events highlighted below, there are tons more opportunities to exercise, create, shop, and be entertained in our community this week. Don’t forget to check out the full community calendar at Everything Mahomet.
The Upper Sangamon River Conservancy is an organization whose “purpose is to preserve, maintain, monitor and promote public use and awareness of the Sangamon River.” If you’d like to get involved, consider attending their Monthly Meeting this Monday, July 6 at the Mahomet Public Library (6:30 p.m., 1702 E. Oak Street).
The Village Planning & Zoning Commission Meeting takes place this Tuesday, July 7 (6 p.m., 503 E. Main Street). The main topic on the agenda concerns a text amendment to an ordinance translating zoning for lands incorporated into the village limits. Read more here.
For kids entering grades 2-5, the Mahomet Public Library’s Wonderclub will study STEM in Space this Wednesday, July 8 (3 p.m., 1702 E. Oak Street). Help aliens land safely after traveling through our atmosphere! Register here.
Register by Thursday, July 9 if you are interested in learning more about Homes Across History: Early Settlers of Champaign County. This event hosted by the Museum of the Grand Prairie promises to teach adults and children about what life was like for residents of our area 100 years ago.
On Friday, July 10, YoYo’s Coffee will host a Summer Night Market featuring “vintage treasures, antique finds, and unique shopping from local vendors.” Craft cocktails and food will be available for purchase, and live music will be featured at the event, which is free to attend (5-10 p.m., 104 S. Lombard Street). (More info)
And don’t miss the Mahomet Area Chamber of Commerce’s signature Auto Fest this Sunday, July 12, taking place on Main Street (9 a.m.-3 p.m.). Everything Mahomet will feature more information about Auto Fest this Wednesday, so check back here to learn more!
