Know Before you Go: Everything Mahomet Business Showcase March 28th

A business showcase as a family event? You may be surprised at what you will find at this year's reimagined event. Formerly known as the "Home and Garden Show," the new business showcase is designed to promote all things Mahomet, including businesses, nonprofits, consultants and more. Plus - it should be fun!


When is it? 10 a.m., to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 28


Where is it? The MSHS Fieldhouse at 302 W. State St. Mahomet, IL 61853


Finding the Fieldhouse: The fieldhouse is located within Mahomet-Seymour High School. The entrance is on the front of the building, toward the west (further) end of the building as you drive up. It is marked Fieldhouse, but might be easiest to find on the 28th by the food trucks parked outside the entrance.


Parking: Ample free parking is available in the high school parking lot.


Cost of the Event: The event is free to attend. Certain activities (listed below) have a cost, but there is plenty to do and see without spending a cent.


Did you say food trucks? You can find good food at this event. The following vendors will be outside the main doors, and there will be seating inside for you to eat:

Juanito’s Tacos

Mama D’s Smokehouse

Keke’s Lemonade


Inside the building, The Main Scoop Ice Cream Cart, Mahomet's finest purveyor of premium ice cream, will be available throughout the event.


Family Activities: Feel free to bring the kids or grandkids, because this year's show has lots of family activities. All activities are free unless otherwise marked.

  • Touch a Truck - Cornbelt Fire Department will have an ambulance onsite for kids to check out and meet a firefighter. (Located behind the Fieldhouse.)

  • Inflatables

  • Glitter Tattoos

  • Giant Games

  • Free Hair Tinsel by Images Hair Design (From 10-12:30 only)

  • Face Painting ($5 Donation to High School Art Club)

  • Braiding by Braided 217 ($25)

  • Meet a Police Officer from the Mahomet Police Department


What Kind of Businesses will be There? There will still be a lot of home and garden businesses there, which is great at this time of year. But other businesses from internet to hair design to banks to printing & signs, plus a lot more, will be at the event. The full list is at the bottom of this article.


Help out By Donating to a Local Drive: Two Mahomet charities will be conducting drives onsite to help local residents in need:

Mom's Pantry: This food drive, located at the high school, will be collecting food donations at the event. Mom's Pantry does a lot to ensure that local students facing food insecurity can learn without the distraction of an empty stomach.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace: Tbis group collects and distributes bedding to those in need. They are looking for twin size pillows and bedding.

Both will be accepting donations at the event.


Don't Miss: Live Performance by the Twist and Shout Cheerleaders at 1:00 p.m.


Win a Prize from a Local Business: Many of our business vendors are doing free raffles or other giveaways. This list includes:

  • Mahomet Town & Country Women's Club - Play a guessing game to win prize basket containing a free photographer mini-session ($125 value), three bags of Stuckey's assorted nuts from the annual sale, and a year's membership to the club ($30/value.)

  • Aftershock Decals and Design—sign and mat

  • Lazer’s Edge—printer maintenance, check and cleaning ($140 value) *must be within 15 miles of their office in Champaign

Get your Photo Taken: While you are here, get a high-quality photo taken. There will be three options for photos:

  • Holly Birch Photography—11 am to 12pm

  • BarnKat Photo—10 am to 1pm

  • Masonic Lodge #220—10am to 4pm
