Calling all artists and book lovers!

YOU can help the Mahomet Public Library design a brand-new library card!

Break out your markers, colored pencils, paint or other artistic medium of your choice, and design a card that symbolizes what you love about MPL. Designs created with both physical media (markers, paint, colored pencils, etc…) and digital media will be accepted. All designs must be created and submitted on the template provided by the library.

There will be four age divisions in the competition, with one winning design selected from each of the following age divisions: PreK-3rd Grade, 4th-6th Grade, 7th-12th Grade and an adult division. Children, teens, and adults who have a valid Mahomet Public Library card (or children whose parent(s) hold a valid MPL card) may submit a design to the competition.

Design submissions will open on Monday, February 2nd and will be accepted until 5 PM on Saturday, February 28th.  (Each participant may enter one design.)

Pick up a submission packet at the library starting Monday, February 2nd or download and print a submission packet on the MPL’s website https://mahometpubliclibrary.org/library-card-competition/. Return your submission packet to the library no later than Saturday, February 28th.

Then the voting begins…

In March, MPL cardholders will get a chance to vote on their favorite designs from each age division! Voting will take place in three rounds. The first round will begin on 3/9 and end on 3/12. The second round of voting will begin on 3/17 and end on 3/19. The final round of voting will begin on 3/24 and end on 3/27. Winners will be announced on 3/30.

Voting will be made available on the website  at https://mahometpubliclibrary.org/library-card-competition/

Four lucky winners will get to see their art made into actual library cards! In April, the winning designs will be sent to our library card manufacturer, and physical cards should be available to the public starting in May.

Don’t miss this opportunity to demonstrate your support for Mahomet Public Library and show off your artistic skills!

*Designs made using physical media must be flat and easily scannable. Designs made using digital media must not contain copyrighted material or material created using generative AI (such as ChatGPT). All designs must be the participant’s original work and may not contain offensive or inappropriate images, words, or phrases.
