This Week in Mahomet: June 29-July 5

“Can you believe it’s already July?” will be a common refrain this week! We highlighted Fourth of July events in a separate article, but there are plenty of other happenings around town as the holiday approaches. If you are 1 or 100, there is someplace fun to be this week in Mahomet!

• This week, the Summer Artifact Showcase at Museum of the Grand Prairie (950 N. Lombard Street) will highlight items like hand tools and pieces of everyday farm life from the early settler period. See specific times for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday here. Free

• Did you know that Whisk Coffee and Wine Bar hosts a weekly Wine Down Wednesday (4-6 p.m., 1704 Patton Dr, Suite 4)? Enjoy a $5 glass of wine or include a charcuterie board for $10.

• Little Groovers Music & Movement is always popular with the preschool set at Mahomet Public Library (10 a.m., 1702 E. Oak Street). Get out some toddler energy on Thursday, July 2 ahead of the long weekend! (More info) Free

• Seniors seeking fellowship can join Growing in Grace: A Ministry for Seniors on the first Thursday of each month, including this Thursday, July 2 at Grace Church (5:30 p.m., 830 W. Oak Street). (More info) Free

• Mahomet Parks & Recreation will hold their rescheduled Neighborhood Nights concert this Thursday, July 2 at Barber Park (6-8 p.m., 703 McDougal Road). Bring a blanket and/or chairs, grab dinner at the food trucks, and rock out to The Casul Blend! (More info) Free

• What’s your karaoke song? Warm up your vocal cords and head to Southpaw Billiards for Karaoke Night with Your Friendly Neighborhood DJ on Friday, July 3 (8 p.m., 103 S. Lincoln Street). Free

While there are no formal Fourth of July festivities taking place in the Village of Mahomet, you can head to Seymour for a daytime parade or nighttime fireworks. We hope you have a safe and fun Independence Day celebration!
